Özdere and Gümüldür sit on the coast south of İzmir, close enough to the airport that this is the shortest beach transfer we run in the province. Under an hour on a normal day.
The road runs inland at first, through the tangerine groves that Gümüldür is known for, then turns down to the shore. Our recorded times sit between 53 and 58 minutes, a narrow band for a route that starts near a city.
This stretch is mostly Turkish family holiday territory rather than international package resorts, so the hotels are smaller and the addresses less obvious from the road. The hotel or apartment name matters more here than in Kuşadası or Çeşme.
Selçuk and Ephesus are about forty minutes further south, which makes this a practical base for visiting the ruins without staying in the town itself.
